Pastoral Care Assistant – Specialist Day School

About the role
The Pastoral Care Assistant will support young people with complex emotional, behavioural and autism spectrum needs at Hartwell School, an independent specialist day school. You will help create a safe, nurturing environment where each pupil can thrive academically and socially.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and group pastoral support to meet emotional and behavioural needs.
- Work closely with families to develop individualized care plans.
- Assess each pupil’s progress and adjust support strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with in‑house clinical teams and teaching staff to ensure consistent care.
- Maintain accurate records of interventions and outcomes.
Required profile
- Experience supporting young people with ASD, BESD or SEMH in a school or care setting.
- Strong listening skills and the ability to motivate and inspire pupils.
- Flexibility, good organisational abilities and a team‑oriented mindset.
