People & Recruitment Advisor

About the role

This role offers the chance to make a real difference within National Gas, building strong relationships while juggling HR advice and full‑cycle recruitment. You will work closely with the Regional People Lead and a small Scotland & North team, enjoying autonomy backed by solid support.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end recruitment for staff roles, delivering a smooth, engaging experience for candidates and hiring managers.
• Write and tailor job adverts that attract the right talent.
• Provide practical, risk‑based HR advice to managers on a range of people matters, including employee relations.
• Support delivery of the people plan and key initiatives such as DEI, EVP and performance cycles.
• Spot trends in data and feedback to help shape smarter decisions.
• Build talent pipelines and engage in early‑career activities (schools, colleges, careers fairs).
• Ensure policies and processes are followed while keeping approaches human and practical.
• Collaborate with central People and Talent teams to continuously improve ways of working.
• Build strong, trusted relationships across the business area, including with Trade Union representatives where relevant.
• Juggle priorities, adapt quickly, and handle any task that lands on your desk, big or small.

Required profile

• Genuinely enjoys the people side of HR and is keen on recruitment.
• Organised, resilient and able to stay calm in chaotic or unpredictable situations.
• Maintains perspective and a sense of humour while rolling up sleeves to resolve issues.
• Committed to supporting colleagues and fostering a positive workplace.

• Competitive salary ranging from £41,952 to £49,355 plus up to 6% bonus.
• Hybrid working model with a minimum of three days on‑site per week.
• Occasional travel to sites and events as required.
• Location based in Livingston, within a commutable distance.
