Private Client Tax Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Private Client Tax Manager to join a thriving accountancy practice in Birmingham. The role involves managing a diverse portfolio of high‑net‑worth individuals, estates, and privately‑owned businesses, delivering specialist tax advice across a range of complex areas.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, including HNWIs, landed estates, and executives.
• Prepare and approve technically robust tax computations for inheritance tax, capital gains tax, income tax and international tax matters.
• Identify technical issues, provide bespoke advisory solutions and ensure compliance with the firm’s Service Charter.
• Lead, develop and review the tax team, delegating work and fostering technical capability.
• Drive process efficiency, oversee WIP and billing, maintain compliance trackers and ensure high‑quality client files.
• Identify advisory opportunities, support partners on complex matters and represent the firm at external events.
• Collaborate with other departments on best‑practice and technology initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified ACA or ACCA accountant; CTA qualification is desirable.
• Significant personal tax experience within a UK accountancy practice.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commercial, analytical approach.
• Ability to understand and address the unique issues facing private clients.
