QTS‑Qualified English Tutor – 1:1 Tuition (Southampton)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a QTS‑qualified English Tutor to deliver personalised 1:1 tuition for children and young people across Southampton and surrounding Hampshire. You will work on behalf of local authorities, supporting learners who are out of mainstream education, awaiting specialist placements, or facing barriers to progress.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated English lessons on a one‑to‑one basis.
• Tailor support to each learner’s needs, helping them develop language skills and confidence.
• Work with pupils who have SEND, EHCPs, autism, SEMH, ADHD, anxiety or other barriers.
• Maintain accurate records of progress and communicate outcomes to relevant stakeholders.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Minimum six months experience in teaching, tutoring, mentoring or learning support.
• Strong subject knowledge of English.
• Experience with SEND/EHCPs is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Access to a vehicle or willingness to travel locally across Hampshire.
