Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering

About the role

You will join a well‑established civil engineering contractor in Birmingham, delivering high‑quality infrastructure projects across the Midlands. As a Quantity Surveyor you will manage project costs, value and contractual relationships from mobilisation through to final account settlement.

Key responsibilities

• Procure specialist trades and advise on subcontractor appointments.
• Draft and manage subcontract agreements and valuations.
• Review design developments and assess cost implications.
• Identify value‑engineering opportunities.
• Prepare and agree monthly valuations with the Employer’s Representative.
• Participate in internal cost reporting and forecasting.
• Support final account preparation and provide contractual advice.
• Build strong relationships across the wider project team.

Required profile

• Degree, HNC or HND in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering and drainage projects.
• Working knowledge of the NEC form of contract.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational abilities.
• Proactive, career‑driven mindset with ambition to progress to Senior Quantity Surveyor.
• Full UK driving licence.
