Receptionist / Switchboard Agent

About the role

The Millennium Hotel and Conference Centre Gloucester London is looking for a friendly and professional Receptionist/Switchboard Agent to be the first point of contact for guests. You will manage check‑in and check‑out processes and act as the central hub for all telephone communications, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience throughout each guest's stay.

Key responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls and route them to the appropriate department or extension.
• Record and distribute faxes and messages accurately and promptly.
• Coordinate with reception to schedule airline wake‑up calls and guest wake‑up calls.
• Post and balance daily telephone charges.
• Assist staff and guests with telephone enquiries and provide information.
• Record external telephone calls made by staff.
• Open and close telephone lines for conferences and events.

Required profile

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills across all organisational levels.
• Confident, able to prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proactive in handling unexpected situations and last‑minute changes.
• Capable of dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
