School Attendance Officer

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Attendance Officer to support and improve student attendance across a West London school. You will work closely with senior leaders, families and external agencies to remove barriers to learning and foster a culture of punctuality and engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, analyse and report on student attendance using the Arbor management system.
• Communicate with students, parents/carers and staff to promote robust attendance practices.
• Collaborate with the AVP and Education Welfare Officer to design, implement and evaluate attendance interventions.
• Build positive relationships with families, including conducting home visits when necessary.
• Coordinate with external agencies and the Local Authority, managing Fixed Penalty Notice referrals and CME procedures.
• Provide accurate data and reports to inform senior leadership team decisions and drive whole‑school improvement.

Required profile

• Organised, approachable and confident communicator.
• Strong attention to detail with a solution‑focused mindset.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, identify trends and take initiative.
• Experience in an educational setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of attendance legislation and DfE guidance is advantageous.
• Successful applicant will undergo Whole School Recruitment vetting, including Enhanced DBS clearance.
