SEN GCSE English & Maths Tutor – Part‑time (Year 10)

About the role
Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated SEN GCSE English & Maths Tutor to provide one‑to‑one tuition for a Year 10 student in Havering. This part‑time, temporary position offers the chance to support a learner with special educational needs and help them progress towards their GCSE qualifications.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver tailored GCSE English lessons in a 1:1 setting.
- Plan and deliver tailored GCSE Mathematics lessons in a 1:1 setting.
- Adapt teaching methods to suit the learner’s individual needs and learning style.
- Maintain accurate records of progress and communicate updates to parents or guardians.
- Ensure a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS or a PGCE.
- Minimum six months experience teaching or tutoring at Key Stage 4, preferably with SEN learners.
- Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
- Up‑to‑date safeguarding training and two professional child‑related references.
Required skills
- Strong knowledge of the GCSE English curriculum.
- Strong knowledge of the GCSE Mathematics curriculum.
- Ability to differentiate instruction for SEN students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
