SEN Teaching Assistant – Support Pupils with Additional Needs

About the role

A welcoming primary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs from September 2026. You will work with children across Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2, helping them develop academically, socially and emotionally within a mainstream environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils on a one‑to‑one basis and in small intervention groups.
• Deliver targeted activities to develop communication, literacy and numeracy.
• Adapt learning resources to meet individual needs.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
• Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals to implement support plans.

Required profile

• Has experience supporting children with SEN in a school or similar setting.
• Patient, adaptable and able to build positive relationships.
• Can use initiative while working effectively as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
• Passionate about helping every child achieve their potential.
• Experience with Autism, speech and language needs or SEMH is advantageous but not essential.
