Senior Accountant / Client Manager – Up to £50,000 DOE

About the role

Our fast‑growing Manchester accountancy practice is looking for a Senior Accountant / Client Manager to lead a portfolio of owner‑managed businesses, delivering high‑quality accounting, tax and advisory services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a client portfolio as the primary contact for accounting, tax and advisory matters.
• Prepare and review statutory accounts, management accounts and tax returns for various business entities.
• Deliver compliance services, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Provide proactive business, financial and tax advice to support client growth.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through excellent communication.
• Review and mentor junior team members, offering technical guidance.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow management and financial analysis projects.
• Identify process improvements and technology enhancements across the practice.
• Support managers and directors with advisory projects, client meetings and business development.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification (or qualified by experience).
• Strong background in an accountancy practice.
• Experience managing a client portfolio and building long‑term relationships.
• Excellent knowledge of accounts preparation, taxation and compliance requirements.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a client‑focused approach.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple deadlines.
• Experience reviewing and mentoring junior staff.
