Senior Vice President, Core Payments Risk Management

About the role

The Senior Vice President, Core Payments Risk Management leads the second‑line risk oversight for Mastercard’s Core Payments business and the Real‑Time Payments International entities. Reporting to the EVP, Risk Strategy and Transformation, the role shapes risk strategy, governance and culture while enabling scalable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Design practical guardrails and risk frameworks that support product launches and business expansion.
• Lead the risk management operating cadence, including governance forums, escalation pathways and executive reporting.
• Oversee execution across operational resilience, technology/cyber, third‑party, conduct and other enterprise risk domains.
• Identify emerging risks, translate them into actionable controls and prioritize focus based on materiality.
• Establish and maintain robust risk governance, risk committees and decision‑making structures.
• Serve as the primary independent 2LoD risk lead for Real‑Time Payments International, managing regulator relationships and compliance.

Required profile

• Senior executive leadership experience in a complex, highly regulated organization.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, present to executive committees and drive alignment in a matrixed environment.
• Strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking and sound business judgment.
• Demonstrated experience engaging with regulators, auditors and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Deep expertise in enterprise risk management frameworks and governance models.
• Experience with stress testing, scenario analysis and risk quantification techniques.
