Sewing Machinist / Production Operator

About the role

This position is based in Consett and involves operating sewing equipment to produce customer‑specified textile components. You will work on a regular shift schedule, with occasional overtime, and receive full training if required.

Key responsibilities

• Operate flat sewing machines and overlockers to join fabric strips according to test sheets.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot minor issues.
• Record production data on check sheets and ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Test materials to verify they meet required specifications.
• Pack finished items, label products and prepare them for dispatch.
• Handle a variety of stains, lubricants and oils safely.

Required profile

• Willingness to work both independently and as part of a small team.
• Commitment to a long‑term role with a permanent contract after probation.
• Availability for overtime one weekend out of every two.
• Ability to attend interview and induction processes.
