Site Manager

About the role

The Site Manager will lead the day‑to‑day operations of a construction site in the East of England, ensuring that all works are delivered safely, on schedule and within budget. This role acts as the primary interface between clients, subcontractors, and internal engineering and commissioning teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and supervise site teams, including subcontractors and operatives.
• Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of construction and installation works.
• Control site resources, plant, and materials, maintaining quality standards and handling defect management.
• Carry out health, safety and environmental duties in line with company policies, statutory requirements and client contracts.
• Conduct risk assessments, toolbox talks, safety inspections and uphold CDM regulations.
• Monitor progress against programme, report issues, and provide regular site progress updates.
• Maintain site records, quality documentation and health & safety logs; support audits and compliance reviews.
• Serve as the main point of contact for clients, regulators, suppliers and coordinate with design, engineering and commissioning teams.
• Work closely with commercial and planning staff to keep work within budget and schedule, and support handover and client acceptance activities.

Required profile

• SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or equivalent health and safety certification.
• Proven experience as a Site Manager or Assistant Site Manager on water and/or energy sector projects.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multi‑disciplinary site teams and manage subcontractors.
• Track record of delivering projects on programme, within budget and to quality standards.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental compliance on construction or engineering sites.
