Specialist Mental Health Nurse – Community Team (Band 6)

About the role

This permanent Band 6 position is based in the Woodlands OPMH Resource Centre, supporting the East Dunbartonshire older‑people community mental health service and Care Home Liaison Team. You will work within a multidisciplinary Community Mental Health Team, delivering person‑centred care to service users across the care‑home estate.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of older adults with mental health needs, including domiciliary visits and crisis response.
• Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to junior staff.
• Collaborate with care homes, GPs, hospitals, primary‑care teams and social‑work colleagues to develop integrated care plans.
• Support the Team Lead in service development and operational delivery.
• Maintain accurate records, risk assessments and adhere to relevant legislation and evidence‑based practice.

Required profile

• Current NMC registration (live UK PIN) with extensive Band 5 experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong assessment, risk‑management and multi‑agency collaboration skills.
• Working knowledge of evidence‑based psychological interventions for dementia‑related distress.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel across East and West localities.
• PVG scheme membership / Disclosure Scotland clearance.
