Sports and Activities Coach

About the role

Chetham’s School of Music is looking for an enthusiastic Sports and Activities Coach to deliver fitness and sport programmes for pupils aged 8‑18. Working part‑time during term time, you will help students stay active, develop healthy habits and enjoy a varied range of sporting experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and supervise PE lessons and sports clubs for junior students.
• Organise extra‑curricular activities, games and fitness sessions that align with student interests.
• Manage the opening and closing of the school gym, including evening and weekend supervision.
• Coordinate trips, excursions and special events that promote wellbeing and teamwork.
• Maintain equipment, ensure safety standards and support the overall wellbeing agenda.

Required profile

• Proven experience working with children and young people in a sports or fitness setting.
• Ability to create engaging, inclusive activities that encourage participation.
• Strong organisational skills and reliability for evening and weekend duties.
• Commitment to safeguarding and willingness to undergo DBS checks.

Required skills

• Fitness instruction and sports coaching techniques.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards for school gym environments.
• Experience planning and leading extracurricular programmes.
