Tax Investigations Director

About the role

This senior position leads high‑value tax investigation and dispute engagements for leading professional services firms in Manchester. You will advise clients on complex HMRC matters, mentor specialist teams and work closely with partners on commercially important cases.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex HMRC investigations, enquiries and tax dispute engagements.
• Provide strategic advice on investigation approach and resolution.
• Manage senior client relationships and act as a trusted adviser.
• Develop and mentor tax investigations professionals.
• Support partners with complex advisory and controversy matters.
• Drive business development and contribute to practice growth.
• Support the continued development of the tax investigations offering.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in tax investigations, tax disputes, tax controversy or HMRC enquiries.
• ACA, CTA qualification or equivalent experience.
• Strong technical and commercial tax knowledge.
• Proven experience leading teams and managing complex engagements.
• Demonstrated client relationship and business development skills.
• Ability to operate at Director level within a professional services environment.
