Teacher of MFL – French and Spanish (Potential TLR)

About the role

Ark Alexandra Academy is seeking an enthusiastic Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) teacher to deliver French and Spanish up to GCSE level. The successful candidate will join a supportive team, with the possibility of progressing to a Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR) and Head of Department role.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in French and Spanish for KS3 and KS4 students.
• Follow the Ark MFL curriculum for KS3 and the Edexcel syllabus for KS4.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Contribute to departmental planning and whole‑school initiatives.
• Potentially assume leadership duties, such as Head of Department, if appointed to a TLR.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher with experience teaching French and Spanish at secondary level.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with students of all abilities.
• Commitment to inclusive education and raising attainment for all learners.
• Willingness to develop leadership capacity and take on additional responsibilities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the national secondary education system, examinations and curriculum.
• Proficiency in delivering the Edexcel GCSE syllabus for French and Spanish.

What we offer

• Salary on the Ark Outside London pay scale (£33,739 – £53,094 per annum).
• Permanent contract with full‑time hours (40 hrs/week).
