Technical Authority – Telecoms (Senior Technical Leader)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Authority to provide senior technical leadership on large, multi‑disciplinary communications engineering programmes. This client‑facing position will shape innovative telecom products and services from concept through delivery, working on high‑value programmes typically exceeding £10M.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end technical solutions, from early concept and architecture to production and client acceptance.
• Manage technical risk, make decisions under pressure, and keep projects on track.
• Partner closely with Project and Programme Managers to deliver value within budget and schedule.
• Lead, mentor and inspire multidisciplinary engineering teams of 15+ specialists.
• Act as a trusted technical liaison with clients, communicating progress, risks and complex concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Support pre‑contract and sales activities by providing techno‑commercial insight.

Required profile

• Strong technical foundation in telecoms or communications engineering.
• Typically 10+ years of experience leading complex, multi‑disciplinary product or service developments.
• Deep understanding of new product development lifecycles and development methodologies.
• Proven ability to make sound decisions under pressure and manage technical risk.
• Experience working in contractual delivery environments or similar commercial settings.
