Technical Claims Lead

About the role

This senior position offers the chance to lead technical claims across a varied portfolio of casualty, property, motor and specialty lines for a leading insurance brokerage in Manchester city centre. You will provide strategic guidance, mentor the claims team and drive excellent outcomes for clients.

Key responsibilities

• Lead high‑value, complex claims, delivering technical direction from inception to settlement.
• Interpret policy coverage, liability and quantum to achieve optimal client results.
• Develop and execute claims strategies, including management of litigated matters.
• Act as the escalation point for contentious or complex claims.
• Build trusted relationships with clients, offering strategic advice and support.
• Attend client meetings and critical incidents, providing expert guidance early in the process.
• Negotiate with insurers, loss adjusters and legal representatives to secure favourable settlements.
• Analyse claims data to identify trends, risks and service‑improvement opportunities.
• Produce management information and insights for internal and client stakeholders.
• Mentor colleagues, sharing technical knowledge and developing team capability.
• Ensure compliance with FCA regulations, Consumer Duty principles and internal procedures.
• Collaborate with broking and risk teams to deliver integrated client solutions and support business growth.

Required profile

• Significant experience handling complex commercial insurance claims across property, casualty, motor and specialty classes.
• Strong technical understanding of policy wordings, liability and legal frameworks.
• Excellent negotiation and dispute‑resolution abilities.
• Proactive, solutions‑driven commercial mindset.
• Effective communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
