Transport Operative

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Transport Operative to join our Southampton team. You will coordinate daily delivery and collection activities, ensuring routes are optimised and drivers are fully supported.

Key responsibilities

• Create and adjust delivery or collection routes based on customer orders and time windows.
• Operate our Transport Management System (TMS) to plan and monitor journeys.
• Brief and debrief drivers, providing instructions, paperwork and updates.
• Handle queries such as delays, breakdowns or route changes and communicate issues to the Management Team.
• Report any defects, accidents or safety concerns to the Transport Shift Manager promptly.
• Assist the Shift Manager with investigations of accidents and incidents.

Required profile

• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions.
• Basic IT literacy, including proficiency with Excel and TMS software.
