Transport Planner

About the role

We are seeking a Transport Planner to join a family‑run general haulage business based in Bedford. The role involves planning and routing specialist haulage movements across the UK, supporting drivers and ensuring efficient delivery operations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate specialist haulage movements throughout the United Kingdom.
• Manage routes, schedules, and driver allocations.
• Liaise with drivers, customers, suppliers, and site contacts.
• Adapt quickly to last‑minute changes and operational demands.
• Monitor deliveries to ensure jobs are completed efficiently.
• Support the transport team with day‑to‑day operational tasks.

Required profile

• Excellent geographical knowledge of the UK.
• Sociable and confident communicator with strong listening skills.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
• Adaptable and able to react quickly to changes.
• Organised with good attention to detail.
• Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
• Family‑firm experience preferable; specialist haulage experience advantageous.

What we offer

• Competitive salary ranging from £35,000 to £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
