VAT Assistant Manager – Advisory & Team Leadership

About the role

We are seeking a VAT Assistant Manager to join our growing indirect tax team. You will provide high‑quality VAT advisory services to a diverse portfolio of SMEs and larger businesses while mentoring junior staff and contributing to business development.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive VAT advisory services across a varied client base.
• Advise on complex VAT matters, including cross‑border transactions, VAT planning and risk management.
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building long‑term relationships.
• Support senior leadership on technical VAT issues and identify cross‑selling opportunities.
• Lead, mentor and develop junior members of the VAT team.
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines, ensuring timely delivery.
• Stay up‑to‑date with UK VAT legislation and share knowledge within the team.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent qualification.
• Strong VAT advisory experience gained within a practice environment.
• Excellent technical knowledge of UK VAT.
• Proven experience managing a client portfolio and developing business.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop junior team members.
• Excellent communication, report‑writing and organisational skills.
