Vice President of Accounting & Tax

About the role

The VP, Accounting & Tax owns Digital Science's statutory reporting, tax compliance, and core accounting control environment across all entities. Reporting directly to the CFO and sitting on the Finance leadership team, the role is responsible for delivering IFRS‑compliant financial statements, a robust month‑end and year‑end close, and a well‑controlled tax and intercompany accounting function. The position also leads the Accounting, Tax & Corporate Reporting team and is identified as a potential CFO successor.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare IFRS‑compliant statutory financial statements for all entities and manage external audit sign‑off.
• Set and maintain group accounting policies aligned with Holtzbrinck reporting requirements.
• Own legal entity consolidation in NetSuite, including intercompany eliminations, FX translation, and reporting.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end close calendars, ensuring timely and controlled close processes.
• Oversee tax compliance and transfer pricing, liaising with Holtzbrinck group tax and external advisors.
• Lead revenue recognition under IFRS 15 and handle complex technical accounting judgments.
• Maintain internal control environment, identify gaps, and drive remediation.
• Act as primary finance owner for external and tax authority audits.
• Lead, coach, and develop the Accounting, Tax & Corporate Reporting team.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with extensive post‑qualification experience in statutory reporting, tax and technical accounting.
• Proven track record managing external audit relationships and delivering clean, timely statutory accounts across multiple entities.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, including revenue recognition (IFRS 15) and consolidation.
• Experience handling tax compliance and transfer pricing in a multi‑entity, multi‑jurisdiction environment.
• People leadership experience with a history of developing accounting teams.
