Youth Mentor – Support for SEMH Pupils

About the role
We are seeking a calm, resilient Youth Mentor to join a specialist Pupil Referral Unit in Manchester. You will work directly with pupils who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing both academic and emotional guidance.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver one‑to‑one and group support sessions for pupils with SEMH needs.
- Maintain regular communication with parents and carers to track progress.
- Provide academic assistance and emotional encouragement to help pupils reach their potential.
- Collaborate with teaching staff and safeguarding teams to ensure a safe learning environment.
Required profile
- Current right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one) and registration with the online update service.
- Two professional references related to child work.
- Recent safeguarding training (within the last year) – training can be provided if needed.
- Team Teach Level 2 (highly desired) – training can be provided.
- Previous experience supporting SEMH pupils in a school or community setting.
Required skills
What we offer
- Competitive weekly rate of £505‑£550 (approximately £24,240‑£26,400 per year).
- Full‑time schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am‑3:30 pm.
