Backend Engineer – Node.js & TypeScript (Hybrid, London)

About the role

We are seeking a Backend Engineer to join a fast‑growing technology‑driven startup in London. You will work on a platform that powers a multi‑brand ecosystem, building reliable, scalable services that directly impact customer experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop core platform APIs, services, and data models for consultations, prescriptions, subscriptions, and order generation.
• Own backend features from concept through production, ensuring reliability, scalability and maintainability.
• Write clean, well‑tested code and provide clear documentation through PRs and technical docs.
• Collaborate with product, operations, and clinical stakeholders and, when needed, contribute to React‑based frontend features.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of commercial experience building production backend services with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of data modelling, API design, testing practices and building maintainable software at scale.
• Defensive coding mindset with awareness of real‑world impact of defects.
• Effective communicator who works closely with cross‑functional teams and documents decisions clearly.
