Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner – Primary Care (PCMHT)

About the role

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is recruiting two permanent Band 6 Mental Health Practitioners to join the Primary Care Mental Health Team (PCMHT) based at Kirkintilloch Health & Care Centre. The role involves delivering timely, person‑centred mental health assessments and evidence‑based psychological interventions for adults with mild to moderate difficulties, supporting early intervention and preventing escalation to secondary care.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, formulate care plans and deliver evidence‑based psychological interventions.
• Perform risk assessment and management for assigned caseload.
• Manage a defined clinical caseload of adult patients.
• Collaborate closely with GPs, primary‑care colleagues and multidisciplinary teams.
• Contribute to service development, audit and quality‑improvement activities.

Required profile

• Professional qualification with current registration (e.g., NMC or HCPC).
• Post‑qualification experience working with adults experiencing mental health difficulties.
• Experience in mental health assessment, formulation and delivery of evidence‑based interventions.
• Strong knowledge of risk assessment and management.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
