Lead Occupational Therapist – Mental Health (Band 7)

About the role

This is a one‑year fixed‑term, full‑time position as a Band 7 Lead Occupational Therapist within the Community Mental Health Team at Kirkintilloch Health and Care Centre. The role provides professional and operational leadership, expert clinical input, and supervision to occupational therapy staff working with adults, including older people.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support Occupational Therapy staff across the Community Mental Health Team.
• Deliver expert clinical input and evidence‑based individual and group interventions.
• Provide professional supervision to Occupational Therapists in the Older People’s Mental Health Team.
• Promote and maintain clinical standards and the professional identity of OT within multidisciplinary teams.
• Collaborate with the Service Manager on service development, workforce planning, and evolution of mental health OT provision.
• Engage with Lead OTs across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde to support strategic alignment and system‑level development.
• Contribute to wider leadership and management across the mental health service.

Required profile

• Post‑registration experience in occupational therapy.
• Demonstrated clinical leadership and advanced practice in mental health.
• Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
• Experience in service development and quality improvement.
• Good understanding of clinical governance, risk management and professional accountability.
• Confidence in collaborative multidisciplinary working.
