Clinical Nurse Manager – Community Palliative Care

About the role

Join Marie Curie as a Clinical Nurse Manager for the Lothians, leading the delivery of high-quality, person-centred palliative care in patients’ homes. In this senior leadership position you will provide clinical and strategic direction across the community nursing service, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless, compassionate care.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate community palliative care, enabling patients to remain in their place of choice.
• Provide clinical oversight, ensuring compliance with the NMC Code and competency frameworks.
• Manage the nursing team through workforce planning, performance reviews, appraisals and development opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with commissioners, GPs, hospices and other community partners.
• Oversee quality, governance and safeguarding, including incident and complaint management.
• Contribute to service development, strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified Registered Nurse with a relevant degree and current NMC registration.
• Proven leadership and management experience in community health or similar settings.
• Demonstrated ability in service development, audit and continuous improvement.
• Strong risk-management experience, including incident escalation and complaint handling.
• Excellent communication, collaborative and proactive approach.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the NMC Code and nursing competency frameworks.
• Experience with quality governance, safeguarding and risk management processes.

What we offer

• Competitive salary on the Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 7 (£52,845‑£61,466).
• Permanent contract, 37.5 hours per week, Monday‑Friday.
