Design Engineer – Construction Engineering (London)

About the role

Join Kier's Design team in London as a Design Engineer, working within a 100‑strong Construction Engineering capability. You will contribute to delivering safe, buildable solutions for complex civil, structural and geotechnical projects, including permanent and temporary works.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret client technical requirements, develop fee proposals and lead the day‑to‑day workload of engineers and technical staff.
• Ensure designs comply with legal requirements, CDM Regulations, Kier’s SHE Management System and Quality Management System.
• Produce design deliverables such as calculations, drawings, reports and risk assessments, and identify value‑engineering opportunities.
• Manage financial and commercial aspects of projects, monitor progress against programme and budget, and provide regular reports to the Engineering Manager and client.

Required profile

• Completed IEng Initial Professional Development (or progressing towards CEng) with a relevant institution such as ICE.
• Level 6 or Level 7 engineering qualification with significant industry experience.

Required skills

• Construction engineering design expertise.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations and compliance.
• Familiarity with Kier’s Design Quality Management System (QMS) and SHE Management System.
