Mechanical Design Engineer - Water Consultancy

About the Role

Join Tetra Tech's premier water consultancy team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of UK water infrastructure through the AMP8 and AMP9 programs. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will drive technical excellence from initial feasibility studies to detailed design and construction support, contributing to sustainable and low-carbon engineering solutions.

Main Missions

• Deliver comprehensive mechanical design packages, including pump sizing, aeration systems, and P&IDs.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation: specifications, data sheets, calculations, and procurement documentation.
• Conduct site surveys and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities to ensure seamless project integration.
• Liaise directly with clients to translate requirements into precise, constructible designs.
• Support diverse projects ranging from wastewater programs and urban drainage to WINEP/SOAF/DWMP initiatives and capital delivery frameworks.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience in mechanical design within the water or environmental engineering sector.
• Ability to manage the full design lifecycle from concept to construction support.
• Strong technical mindset with a focus on optimizing facility performance and carbon footprint reduction.
• Excellent communication skills for client liaison and multidisciplinary teamwork.
• Ambition to grow into senior design or project management leadership roles.
