Procurement Specialist – Sourcing Buyer

About the role

We are seeking a proactive, commercially‑focused Procurement Specialist to join our growing procurement team in Bristol. The role sits at the heart of strategic sourcing, ensuring competitive and sustainable supply solutions for our maritime and defence business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead sourcing activities from initial requirement through to supplier selection and contract award.
• Develop and issue RFQs, ITTs and other sourcing documentation, ensuring clear and compliant tender processes.
• Conduct market research and supplier analysis to identify new opportunities and mitigate risk.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing, terms and agreements to deliver best value while preserving supplier partnerships.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Operational Procurement, Projects, Bids & Business Development.
• Support the development and delivery of sourcing strategies aligned to business and programme requirements.
• Maintain accurate sourcing and commercial data with strong attention to detail.
• Identify commercial and supply‑chain risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Assist Assistant Procurement Officers in daily activities and escalations.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in procurement or supply‑chain roles.
• Strong understanding of sourcing fundamentals (RFQs/ITTs, supplier selection, negotiation, contract award).
• Proven negotiation skills – firm yet fair, delivering value while maintaining relationships.
• Excellent analytical capability with advanced Excel proficiency.
• Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail.

What we offer

• Salary £38,000 – £45,000 per year plus a guaranteed £8,000 bonus.
