Senior Engineer – Construction Design (Bristol)

About the role

Kier is seeking a Senior Engineer to join its Design team in Bristol. You will work within a 100‑strong Construction Engineering capability, delivering safe and buildable solutions for permanent and temporary works across a range of high‑profile projects.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and agree technical requirements with clients, challenging where necessary and leading fee proposal development.
• Organise and lead the daily workload of engineers and technical staff, ensuring designs meet legal and company standards.
• Provide leadership to direct and indirect reports, supporting the Engineering Manager and Head of Capability.
• Oversee production of design deliverables, including calculations, drawings, reports and risk assessments for temporary works.
• Deliver alternative solutions and value‑engineering to enhance competitiveness.
• Act as Lead Designer on multidisciplinary projects, reviewing third‑party designs for compliance.

Required profile

• Incorporated member of a relevant professional institution (e.g., IEng, MICE) with substantial design consultancy experience.
• Full driving licence for site visits.
