Acute Medicine Consultant (Fixed‑term, 1 year)

About the role

This is a one‑year fixed‑term consultant post in Acute Medicine based at Raigmore Hospital, part of NHS Highland. The role combines clinical work on a modern acute medical ward, same‑day emergency care, on‑call duties and a weekly rotation to Caithness General Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality acute medical care on the ward and in the emergency department.
• Provide general medical on‑call cover, including a one‑week‑in‑six rotation to Caithness General Hospital (Monday‑Thursday).
• Contribute to service development, portfolio career opportunities and multidisciplinary teamwork.
• Engage in teaching, research or sub‑specialty activities where relevant.

Required profile

• Registered on the Specialist Register with a licence to practise.
• Holder of, or within six months of obtaining, a CCT in Acute Internal Medicine or General Internal Medicine, or a CESR.
• Motivated to work in the Scottish Highlands and flexible to varied working patterns.
