Advanced Specialist Community Respiratory Physiotherapist

About the role

The Advanced Specialist Community Respiratory Physiotherapist joins a multidisciplinary team delivering evidence‑based COPD services across Glasgow. Working from Woodside Health and Care Centre, you will help shape service strategy, ensure best‑practice policies, and support patients and carers in managing respiratory conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct autonomous, advanced assessments of COPD patients using investigative, observational and analytical techniques.
• Decide on appropriate care pathways, including home management versus acute hospital admission.
• Prioritise and triage referrals, supporting efficient patient flow and resource utilisation.
• Develop individualised treatment and maintenance plans focused on exacerbation management, functional optimisation and self‑management.
• Collaborate with GPs, secondary respiratory services and the Early Supported Discharge team.
• Participate in audit, evaluation and service development activities.

Required profile

• Registered physiotherapist with advanced specialist experience in community respiratory care.
• Demonstrated ability to work flexibly within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills applied to clinical decision‑making.
• Commitment to continuous improvement, audit and service evaluation.
