Building Services Design Engineer Apprentice (Degree)

About the role

As a Building Services Design Engineer Apprentice you will join one of the UK’s largest engineering consultancies, working on live projects across sectors such as healthcare, hospitality, retail and residential. You will produce detailed designs, drawings and specifications while developing your technical and management skills through a degree‑level apprenticeship.

Key responsibilities

• Work on live building‑services projects from day one.
• Produce detailed designs, drawings and specifications using the latest computer modelling software.
• Undertake site surveys and monitor construction progress.
• Research emerging technologies and incorporate them into designs.
• Prepare engineering system designs on computers.
• Participate in regular meetings with project teams, clients and end users.

Required profile

• Meet university entry requirements (e.g., three A‑levels including Maths and a science, or equivalent qualifications).
• Genuine interest in a career within building‑services engineering.
• Excellent communication, analytical and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Friendly, ambitious, confident with a flexible and resilient approach.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computer modelling software.
