Clinical Commissioning Pharmacist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Commissioning Pharmacist to join the Frimley Health Pharmacy Department. Working closely with the Chief Pharmacist and NHS England specialised commissioning team, you will help ensure the effective, cost‑efficient use of high‑cost medicines across Frimley Health Trust sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist clinical pharmacy advice on NICE guidance and high‑cost/tariff‑excluded medicines to clinicians and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support clinicians with NHS England Individual Funding Requests (IFRs) and ensure high‑quality submissions.
• Develop, implement and monitor prescribing guidelines, treatment pathways and governance processes for high‑cost medicines.
• Lead implementation of NICE and NHS England commissioning policies, assessing clinical and financial impact of new guidance.
• Undertake complex medicines evaluations and present findings to Trust and Integrated Care System (ICS) committees.
• Manage Patient Access Schemes, support income recovery and deliver QIPP and medicines optimisation initiatives.
• Monitor expenditure, conduct audits, report performance and represent the Trust on relevant committees.

Required profile

• MPharm (or equivalent Bachelor’s degree) and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
• Post‑graduate diploma/degree in Clinical Pharmacy.
• Independent Prescriber qualification or willingness to complete training.
• Ability to work weekends and Bank Holidays and travel between Trust sites.
