Compliance Advisor – Global Risk & Client Clearance

About the role

We are partnering with a leading global law firm to recruit a Compliance Advisor based in London. You will manage the firm’s global risk exposure and provide strategic advice to partners on client and matter selection across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and identify conflict of interest and client confidentiality issues for prospective and existing instructions.
• Design and implement strategic solutions to overcome compliance barriers, including drafting consent letters and establishing information barriers.
• Conduct detailed due‑diligence, sanctions screening, and reputational risk assessments on new clients and matters.
• Perform ongoing monitoring of existing client relationships in line with global anti‑money laundering policies.
• Serve as a technical escalation point for junior compliance analysts.
• Advise partners and fee earners on the interpretation of financial crime legislation and regulatory guidelines.
• Assist with the development, monitoring, and auditing of firm‑wide compliance procedures to ensure cross‑border consistency.
• Deliver interactive training sessions on emerging risk issues to promote a strong compliance culture.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor or experienced risk specialist with a background in a reputable commercial or international law firm.
• Comprehensive knowledge of ethical rules affecting global legal practices.
• Exceptional research capabilities and a broad understanding of legal risk frameworks.
