Conflicts Lawyer

About the role

We are partnering with a prestigious international law firm to recruit a Conflicts Lawyer for its General Counsel team in London. The role focuses on managing complex conflict-of-interest matters across the firm’s global network and supporting new business intake.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary escalation point for the Business Acceptance Team to resolve intricate legal and commercial conflicts of interest.
• Provide expert guidance to partners and senior stakeholders on risks linked to new instructions and existing business.
• Design and deliver bespoke conflicts‑training programmes to embed a strong risk‑management culture.
• Manage, mentor and develop junior team members, acting as a professional role model.
• Collaborate with the Chief Operating Legal Partner (COLP) to maintain regulatory policies and governance procedures.
• Advise senior operational leaders, including Business Operations and HR, on conflict and broader risk issues.
• Champion process improvements and adopt new technologies to enhance the conflict‑checking function.
• Support internal reviews, investigations and assurance processes to meet regulatory obligations.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with significant experience in conflict resolution within a UK legal risk function.
• Proven track record of people management and mentoring junior staff.
• Commercially‑minded with excellent drafting abilities and the confidence to influence senior stakeholders.
• Inquisitive mindset and the highest standards of legal rigour.
