Consultant in Geriatric Medicine – Frailty & Stroke

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking an experienced Consultant in Geriatric Medicine with a specialist interest in frailty and stroke. The role is split between the Royal Alexandra Hospital and Inverclyde Royal Hospital, delivering consultant‑led stroke services, including HASU cover, and comprehensive geriatric assessment within frailty pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consultant‑led stroke medicine, participating in the HASU rota at Royal Alexandra Hospital.
• Support acute stroke admissions and outpatient services at Inverclyde Royal Hospital.
• Deliver comprehensive geriatric assessments within the frailty team on an acute assessment ward.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team to ensure high‑quality, patient‑centred care.
• Contribute to service development, teaching, and quality improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Full GMC registration and eligibility to work in the UK.
• Significant clinical experience in both geriatric and stroke medicine.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across two hospital sites.
• Commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration and patient safety.
