Design Technology Teacher (Food Technology) – Temporary Maternity Cover

About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Design Technology Teacher with a specialism in Food Technology to provide maternity cover in a well‑regarded secondary school in Tameside. The role starts in October 2026 (earlier start possible) and will run for at least nine months on a full‑time basis.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
- Integrate practical, hands‑on activities that develop students' life‑skills and curriculum knowledge.
- Assess student progress, provide feedback and maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate with the Design Technology department to ensure a cohesive curriculum.
- Contribute to departmental meetings, whole‑school initiatives and professional development.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status.
- Ability to obtain an Enhanced DBS check and any necessary overseas police clearances.
- Legal right to work in the United Kingdom.
- Strong subject knowledge in Food Technology and effective classroom management.
Required skills
- Proficiency in delivering the Food Technology curriculum.
- Experience using practical equipment and resources safely in a school setting.
