Disrepair & Litigations Surveyor

About the role

This temporary position supports a local authority in Birmingham by assessing property conditions and managing disrepair and litigation cases within the social housing portfolio. The role combines on‑site surveying with detailed reporting to ensure compliance with construction and housing regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough property surveys to identify disrepair issues and recommend remedial actions.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports and documentation for litigation proceedings.
• Collaborate with legal teams to provide expert evidence for court cases.
• Liaise with contractors and internal stakeholders to coordinate timely repairs.
• Monitor repair works to verify quality, compliance, and completion.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, findings, and actions taken.
• Offer technical guidance and support to colleagues across the organisation.

Required profile

• Relevant qualifications in construction, surveying, or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of housing and construction regulations in the public sector.
• Proven experience conducting property surveys and producing technical reports.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively with legal teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
