Engineering Manager – Remote SaaS

About the role

We are partnering with an innovative UK‑based SaaS start‑up that is at a pivotal growth stage. As Engineering Manager you will lead a talented engineering team, drive technical excellence, and help shape the product roadmap.

Key responsibilities

• Lead hiring processes and build a high‑performing engineering team.
• Line‑manage engineers, supporting their skill development and career progression.
• Collaborate with technical and product leadership to plan, scope, and deliver SaaS products.
• Author project plans and run agile project‑management processes.
• Provide guidance on technical contributions, product architecture, and process improvements.
• Foster technical decision‑making while making final decisions when needed.
• Draft engineering goals and KPIs, and track performance.
• Work with the CTO and product team to identify learning opportunities for team members.
• Improve product quality, security, and performance.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience with current hands‑on technical expertise.
• Deep knowledge of at least one core language used by the team (Ruby, Python, C/C++ or Rust).
• Understanding of software architecture principles and the full software development lifecycle.
• Familiarity with other functional areas within an engineering team.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict‑resolution abilities.
• Flexible thinking and the ability to pivot and try new approaches when challenges arise.
