Estate Manager – Temporary (Public Sector)

About the role

The role is a three‑month temporary position within a local authority in Wandsworth, London. You will be the primary point of contact for tenants and leaseholders, overseeing the day‑to‑day management of approximately 750 properties.

Key responsibilities

• Manage routine repairs and inspections of dwellings, communal areas and vacant properties.
• Receive and act on tenant and leaseholder enquiries, complaints and requests.
• Issue repair orders, process invoices, and ensure security measures for vacant homes.
• Assess and approve alterations, enforce lease terms and HMO regulations.
• Investigate and resolve complex cases of antisocial behaviour, including hate‑crime reports.
• Liaise with internal teams and external agencies for vulnerable residents and high‑risk cases.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for senior housing managers.

Required profile

• Experience in residential property or housing management, preferably within the public sector.
• Strong knowledge of tenancy legislation, leasehold regulations and council procedures.
• Ability to prioritise workload, handle multiple enquiries and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with tenants, leaseholders and partner agencies.
