Expatriate Tax Manager

About the role

The Expatriate Tax Hub at BDO provides UK expatriate and US tax compliance services and supports the wider Expatriate Tax and immigration team. As an Expatriate Tax Manager you will drive the Hub’s technical growth, champion quality, and lead training and knowledge‑sharing initiatives. The role is based in Liverpool, Manchester or Glasgow and follows a hybrid working model with 2‑3 days in the office each week.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement technical strategies to enhance the Hub’s tax compliance capabilities.
• Ensure high‑quality delivery through SLA management, quality control and continuous improvement.
• Design and deliver training programmes to close skills gaps and embed a “Quality First” culture.
• Collaborate with senior managers, directors and partners to identify new service opportunities.
• Provide expert advice on UK personal tax legislation, focusing on expatriate tax matters.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ATT/CTA) or equivalent experience.
• Strong technical experience in UK personal tax, especially expatriate tax.
• Proven track record in SLA delivery, quality management and training.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills with senior stakeholders.
• Exceptional time‑management, organisational and prioritisation abilities.
