Finance Manager – Accounts Payable Lead

About the role

A leading consultancy in Central London is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to head its Accounts Payable Transactions function. You will own end‑to‑end invoice processing, financial controls and audit activities while driving continuous improvement across multiple finance systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Accounts Payable Transactions team, ensuring service‑level targets are met.
• Oversee end‑to‑end invoice processing across several systems, maintaining coding accuracy and workflow compliance.
• Maintain a robust control environment, including segregation of duties and governance frameworks.
• Act as primary contact for AP audits, preparing documentation and implementing audit recommendations.
• Manage finance system interfaces, invoice integrations, reconciliations and timely resolution of issues.
• Support month‑end close with accurate invoice cut‑off, accruals and balance reconciliations.
• Identify and implement process automation and efficiency opportunities.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing an Accounts Payable function in a medium‑to‑large organisation.
• Strong understanding of financial controls, audit processes and governance.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop a high‑performing team.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of invoice processing and AP best practices.
• Experience with multiple finance systems and data integrations.
• Ability to design and maintain robust financial control frameworks.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
