Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking a Financial Controller to join our well‑established retail and wholesale SME in Nottingham. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will lead a high‑performing finance team and be responsible for end‑to‑end financial and management accounting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver accurate management and statutory financial reports.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and commercial analysis to support strategic decisions.
• Manage cash flow, working capital and inventory finance across the supply chain.
• Oversee tax, VAT and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and maintain robust systems, processes, controls and risk‑management frameworks.

Required profile

• Qualified finance professional (e.g., QBE) with proven experience as a Financial Controller or Head of Finance in an SME.
• Hands‑on experience with inventory, foreign‑exchange and supply‑chain accounting.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to provide value‑added insights.
• Full‑time, office‑based availability – no hybrid working.
