Financial Controller

About the role

The company is seeking a Financial Controller to lead financial control, stock and inventory oversight, commercial reporting and forecasting within a fast‑paced, import‑led environment. Reporting directly to the owners and senior leadership, the role offers extensive exposure to operations, supply chain and a clear pathway to a Finance Director position.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day financial control activities.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts and reports.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow processes.
• Supervise stock and inventory reporting, monitoring rotation and margin performance.
• Partner with operations, supply‑chain and commercial teams to provide financial insight.
• Lead and develop the finance function.
• Review and improve finance processes, controls and reporting workflows.
• Support strategic decisions through detailed financial analysis.
• Drive financial visibility and reporting accuracy across the business.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA, CMA or CIMA qualification preferred.
• Experience in stock‑led, operationally focused environments.
• Background in wholesale, FMCG, manufacturing, distribution or import‑led businesses.
• Strong financial control and management reporting capability.
• Commercially minded with solid operational awareness.
• Hands‑on leadership style, comfortable working close to detail.
• Strong systems and ERP knowledge in inventory‑driven settings.
• Advanced Excel and data‑analysis capability.
• Ability to thrive in fast‑paced, evolving environments.
• Interest in long‑term progression and leadership development.

What we offer

• Salary £60,000 – £70,000 per annum.
