Geotechnical Engineer – Manchester

About the role

We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join a well‑established ground engineering consultancy in Manchester. You will work on a variety of residential, commercial and infrastructure projects across the North West, managing ground investigations from planning through to reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise site investigations, including drilling and trial pitting.
• Log soil and rock samples to BS5930 standards.
• Schedule and oversee laboratory testing.
• Produce factual and interpretative geotechnical reports.
• Provide foundation recommendations, earthworks assessments and support geotechnical design.
• Collaborate closely with senior engineers and clients throughout project delivery.

Required profile

• Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 2‑5 years’ experience within a UK geotechnical consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of ground investigation techniques and BS5930 logging.
• Experience producing factual and, ideally, interpretative geotechnical reports.
• Full UK driving licence.
