Graduate Failure Analyst – Materials & Processes

About the role

You will be on a development journey to guide your growth into the role of Engineer, Failure Analyst within the Materials & Processes domain. The position involves investigating failure modes of metallics, composites and surface protection systems and presenting evidence‑based conclusions.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate failure modes and mechanisms of metallics, composites and surface protection systems.
• Analyze parts and materials from in‑service aircraft, production and certification test programmes.
• Collaborate with materials experts to provide robust investigation conclusions and feedback to designers, stress teams, airworthiness and chief engineering authority.
• Utilise advanced material testing and analytical capabilities at the Aerospace Integrated Research & Test Centre (AIRTeC).
• Complete at least one rotational placement with cross‑functional engineering partners such as Stress, Design or Airworthiness teams.

Required profile

• A degree (or equivalent) in Materials Science.
• Recent graduation or first professional experience performing analytical tests and material characterisation in a laboratory setting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Desire to work collaboratively and drive future innovation.
• Self‑awareness and willingness to take ownership of personal development.
