About the role

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government is seeking a highly organised self‑starter to lead the Finance Director’s Private Office. This pivotal, high‑profile position sits at the heart of the Finance Directorate, acting as the first point of contact for external stakeholders and supporting senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Prioritise and manage the team’s workload to ensure high‑quality service delivery and meet deadlines.
• Commission and deliver briefing material, providing effective support to the Finance Director.
• Offer reasoned advice and resilience to the Director and the wider Leadership Team.
• Lead the rhythm of key standing items, including senior leadership meetings and all‑staff communications.
• Engage with other private offices, notably the Chief Finance Officer’s office, to ensure alignment on strategic issues.
• Action ad‑hoc requests from the Director and Executive Team as required.
• Line‑manage Private Office team members and support their personal development.
• Organise events ranging from strategic workshops to conference‑style gatherings for up to 100 attendees.
